Holding a degree in English Language & Literature from Cambridge University, Richard Swaab’s marketing career began quite a few years back in the production department at Lintas. He stayed at Lintas for five years working on Lever Brothers, Elida Faberge and Rowntree Mackintosh and changing along the way from traffic man to account director to planner.
A few years and a few jobs later, Richard ended up at Ogilvy and Mather where he worked on toothpaste, yellow fats and Guinness. In 1990, Richard was hired by CDP as Head of Planning – a job that lasted eighteen months until he was lured to WCRS. As Vice Chairman at WCRS, he worked on Bells, Lunn Poly and a barrel load of beers including Carling and the launch of Caffrey’s.
Richard came to the BBDO Network in 2001, working on global accounts such as Pepsi and Guinness. From 2003 to the end of 2005, he was in charge of International planning across the European Network. Now restored to AMV as Deputy Chairman, he is a key part of the management team, and heavily involved in the global strategy of Guinness and Pepsi.
